Education History: I am a proud graduate of Fayette High School in Fayette, MO - home of the Falcon Pride marching band! After high school I went on to get a degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Harding University in Searcy, AR - Home of the Bisons! Interests/Hobbies: I really enjoy spending time with my wife - we have a lot of fun together. I'm also an avid sports fan. I grew up following all of the teams from Missouri - St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers, and Kansas City Wizards. Since moving to Memphis, I've adopted the University of Memphis Tigers and the Memphis Grizzlies. I enjoy all types of music, but a few of my favorites are Switchfoot, Bob Marley, Keane, Jack Johnson, Willy Mason, Surfjan Stevens, and Bob Dylan among many others. I'm starting to develop an interest in gardening as well. A Scripture that is important to you: "The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love." - Psalms 33:5 Favorite thing about Memphis: I love the diversity and history of our city. I also love riding my bike around the Memphis riverfront. What is your personal mission while working with MUM? My passion lies in community development - I strive to learn how the church can engage the poor in our communities, not through one-way charity, but instead through a genuine community where both rich and poor are given the opportunity to learn from each other. I hope to be a part of a ministry that breaks down the long-standing racial barriers in our city. I want to seek justice, learn from the lives of the oppressed, and gain a better understanding of the complexities of poverty. Maybe through these experiences, God will mold me into a man who is better able to love my neighbor and hopefully be an advocate for their needs. Blog: Love is a Movement |
