"Love the Lord your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And
the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."
- Matthew
22:37-39
Loving our neighbor means
more than giving away stuff. Our neighbors in the city
need more than our money or our material resources.
Our neighbors in the city need advocates, listeners, and
friends.
Memphis Urban Ministry
practices our Neighborhood Values by:
-
Maintaining a
constant presence in the neighborhood
-
Engaging in
neighborhood associations (Watch groups, Tenants
Associations, etc)
-
Participating in
local collaboratives
-
Establishing and
developing local partnerships
-
Developing indigenous
leaders
-
The simple act of
becoming friends
